It’s countdown time for the 2018 Crystal Charity Ball. While some folks are at their tailors for final fittings, the CCB committee was at the Hilton Anatole in sweaters, jeans and ponytails schlepping materials, checking in loads of silent auction items and helping Event Producer Tom Addis to create Saturday night’s “A Celebration in Nouvelle-Orléans.”

Today Wells Fargo Regional Director Phil White was on hand with 2018 CCB Chair Claire Emanuelson and Underwriting Chair Angie Kadesky for the arrival of the boxes of 2018 Children’s Book. Only thing missing was Children’s Book Chair Alison Malone, who had a prior commitment at her daughter’s school.
BTW, this year’s book is a first. No, Wells Fargo is underwriting the book for a second year. And, no, it still has more than 400 marvelous photos of kids by area photographic artists Holt Haynsworth, James French, Gittings’ Rob Wythe and John Derryberry.

What’s new is the book has a dedication — “The 2018 Children’s Book is dedicated to the memory of three special women who were lifelong advocates for the children in our community.” Those ladies were Ruth Sharp Altshuler, Nancy Ann Chandler and Rita Croker Clements, who passed away this past year.
Above the dedication, Claire had the following quote from the late Mr. Fred Rogers:
“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”
